~100-Word Drabble, Day 2

Written in the style of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo:

Each night, Benaiah helped Jachin prepare spells. By now, he’d heard the incantations so many times, he knew them by rote, but they meant nothing to him. Sorcery was not something an old warrior could comprehend.

It had been easier in Benaiah’s day, when the sword was the weapon of a servant of the Most High. YHWH’s command had been to root out sorcerers, mediums, and necromancers, not recruit them into His service.

He complained about this to Jachin one night over the campfire. The sorcerer merely scoffed. “The whole earth is ever-changing, old man, why should He not change as well?”
