About the author

James Yu was born in Houston, TX in 1990. As a child of two working immigrants, he was often left in the care of his grandfather and the television, leading to an acute contentment with solitude and an overactive imagination that loved creating elaborate stories. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and immediately moved to Los Angeles to serve as a missionary for two years in the inner city. There he helped establish a socially conscious business startup, earned a license in financial advising, and began pursuing his writing aspirations in earnest.

He has been a member of various co-writing spaces in Los Angeles, and also leads a small online writer’s session that has met on a daily basis since the start of quarantine. Though still unpublished, James has written multiple manuscripts of varying length and quality, participating in Nanowrimo and other challenges. Soaring Tigers is his first queried novel
